Runway Studio

Think differently.
Design intentionally.
Build what's next.

Runway Studio works alongside leaders and teams to intentionally design how work, organizations, and ideas move forward — bringing together strategy, human-centered design, transformation, and AI-enabled ways of working.

The world is moving before most organizations have caught up.

Growth has outpaced the way the business runs.

New tools arrive faster than new ways of working.

Expectations shift before roles, decisions, and workflows do.

And everyone feels the pressure to move — even before the path forward is clear.

But you can see the possibility. You know there has to be a better way.

Sometimes the opportunity is obvious. Sometimes you can only feel the friction — too much effort, too many handoffs, decisions that take too long, work that keeps getting harder instead of easier.

And while you're figuring out what should change, the context keeps changing around you.

People are stretched. The old process still works well enough. Ownership of the new way isn't always clear. Leaders move at different speeds. Training happens, but new habits don't necessarily follow.

A figure in motion, blurred mid-stride through a glass-walled studio — a visual metaphor for work moving faster than the systems built to support it.

What exists today doesn't have to define what comes next.

Think Differently

See beyond the presenting problem.

Design Intentionally

Turn possibility into a deliberate plan.

Build What's Next

Make the new way real.

We bring a design mindset to the way we work, lead, organize, create, and change.

That's it.

A working wall of sketches, notes, and fragments reading 'What gets designed?' with a handwritten list: strategy, experiences, workflows, teams and leadership, ways of working, growth, what's next.

The work is designable.

Design isn't limited to things you can see.

A workflow can be designed. So can a role, a decision, an employee experience, a team, an operating model, or an entirely new way of working.

EDIT™ is Runway Studio's way of turning intentional design into practice — four questions we return to whenever we're creating, changing, or improving something that matters.

Four lenses that stop us from solving the wrong problem, designing around old assumptions, confusing launch with implementation, and confusing implementation with transformation.

The EDIT signature mark: Envision — what are we trying to create; Design — what should it look like; Integrate — how will it work in the real world; Transform — how does it become the new normal. Iterate when the work reveals a better question.

EDIT™ in Application

A better answer often begins with a better way of looking at the problem. Here are three examples of how EDIT™ can move a real business challenge from current reality toward a more intentionally designed way of working.

01 — Onboarding + Retention

"We're losing too many new employees in their first 90 days. We need a better way to onboard them."

E
Envision

Map the current experience and define what new employees should know, feel and be able to do throughout their first 90 days.

D
Design

Create the journey — from preboarding through 90 days — with manager touchpoints, peer support, a central portal, and engaging content such as AI-generated welcome videos and learning podcasts.

I
Integrate + Implement

Build the experience into everyday work: establish ownership, train hiring managers, launch the buddy system and pilot the new approach with real employees.

T
Transform

Gather employee feedback, track where people struggle and refresh the experience as the organization and its needs change.

Result

A consistent onboarding experience designed to build connection, confidence and readiness — while making it easier for managers to deliver well.

02 — Capacity + Profitability

"We're busy, but we're not becoming more profitable. The team is at capacity, and growth can't just mean hiring more people."

E
Envision

Map where time and capacity are going and identify the work creating value versus friction, delay or unnecessary effort.

D
Design

Redesign priority workflows — eliminating unnecessary work, simplifying handoffs and determining where people, AI, automation and other tools can create the most leverage.

I
Integrate + Implement

Build and pilot the new workflows, tools and working practices; clarify roles and train the team on the new way of working, not simply the technology.

T
Transform

Measure capacity, cycle time, quality and adoption; refine what isn't working and embed ownership so improvements continue.

Result

A simpler, more scalable way of working that creates capacity for growth without automatically adding more people.

03 — Leadership + Decisions

"Decisions big and small keep coming back to me. I know I've become a bottleneck — but I'm not sure how to change that without losing control of what matters."

E
Envision

Understand where decisions are actually getting stuck, why they are returning to leadership, and what a healthier future state of ownership and decision-making should look like.

D
Design

Create clearer decision rights, accountability, information flows, escalation paths and operating rhythms so people have the context, authority and capability to act.

I
Integrate + Implement

Put the new model into real work. Equip teams to take ownership, develop managers and leaders to support the new expectations, and establish the tools, information and practices needed to make decisions at the appropriate level.

T
Transform

Observe where decisions still escalate or get overturned, reinforce accountability and new leadership behaviors, and refine the system until greater ownership becomes part of how the organization operates.

Result

A clearer way of operating where decisions happen at the right level, teams have greater ownership, and leaders can stay connected to what matters without having to control everything.

AI appears naturally inside the work — sometimes central, sometimes selective, sometimes unnecessary. That judgment is the point.

One studio.
Three depths of partnership.

From one important challenge to organization-wide change, there are different ways to work with Runway.

01
Studio Experiences
Experience the thinking.

Interactive workshops, leadership experiences, conferences, retreats, and facilitated sessions designed to help people think differently and experience the Runway philosophy firsthand. Runway's role: reframe, provoke, teach, facilitate.

02
Runway Design Sessions
Design something important together.

For individuals, founders, small businesses, and teams with a specific challenge to solve or something new to create. A series of collaborative working sessions focused on one meaningful priority — from a workflow, client or employee experience, leadership challenge, AI-enabled way of working, or business process to something entirely new.

You implement between sessions; Runway guides the thinking, design, and repeated EDIT™ cycles alongside you.

03
Transformation Partnerships
Build bigger change together.

For organizations facing larger, more interconnected change who want Runway alongside them more deeply — facilitation, operating and work design, implementation support, leadership, capability building, and adoption, until the new way of working can carry forward on its own.

The challenge shapes the work. We bring the right mix of strategy, design, leadership, technology, and change to help you move it forward.

Sunny Patel, founder of Runway Studio, in conversation at a working table with colleagues, notebooks, laptops, and sticky notes mid-session.

The person
behind the studio.

Runway Studio grew from a pattern repeated throughout Sunny Patel's career. Across retail, healthcare, analytics, innovation, workforce strategy, organizational transformation, founder advisory, coaching, and AI-enabled work, the subject matter changed — but the instinct didn't. She repeatedly saw possibilities others hadn't yet made visible, then helped build the teams, processes, systems, leadership practices, and adoption needed to make that possibility real.

That pattern shows up in the work itself — 25+ years of workforce analytics, organizational design, and transformation experience inside Fortune 50 organizations, working alongside leaders who needed more than advice — they needed a partner who could help design and build what came next.
